BIC Euronova - ECO
Project
ECO is a European project based on Open Educational Resources (REA) which provides access to a list of MOOC (Online Massive Open Courses) in six languages.
The main objective of this project is to increase the access to education and to improve the quality and the cost-effectiveness of the education and learning in Europe.
To make it work, a MOOC platform will be launched by ECO, this platform will be combined incorporating different modules provided by certain partners of ECO, in order to train teachers for online collaborative teaching and to certify them, who will create their own courses.
The most important objectives are:
Analyze requirements for MOOC platforms from the pedagogical point of view (including learning analytics, web 2.0 and other issues).
Create a framework for the design and implementation of MOOC.
General design of the ECO platform architecture and integration of all the individual modules that take part in the platform.
Pilot together with the ECO platform in the 10 centres involving, at least, 50,000 students (teachers of different educational levels).
Analyze and access the international MOOC market.
Develop an appropriate strategy and business plan for ECO sustainability. Increase the benefits awareness of open access educational resources in Europe for its citizens and institutions.
The project, led by UNED (Spanish National University of Distance Education), has Microsoft as associated partner, as well as other European universities and institutions to complete a total of 22 partners.
The Project is funded through CIP programme of the European Commission.
